Location: Kombo Beach Hotel, Kotu View Map
Following the Berlin Declaration on Transforming Tourism to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in creating a just, inclusive and equal world, join us as we discuss ways we can realise the SDGs through better tourism monitoring.
The main objective is to bring stakeholders together to share and exchange experiences towards taking social, economic and environmental responsibility for sustainable tourism development and to decide on the tools to use to make an annual monitoring and evaluation of progress or the lack of it for better tourism.
While the SDGs are not legally binding, governments are expected to take ownership and establish national frameworks for the achievement of the 17 Goals. The outcome of the seminar will help this process by drawing the monitoring tools and prepare common advocacy and campaigning material to make tourism better. It is expected that these will be utilised to put pressure on the industry, governments and other stakeholders to implement sustainability through responsible tourism practice.
